How are we different?

We are not your average investment fund, nor are we your average investors. Fundamentally, we differ from traditional venture capitalists and investors in many ways.

We are not seeking the perfect company. We don't expect investee companies to have the perfect team, the perfect business plan and five year financial projections to back it up. We don't mind if they do, but we don't need it. All we need to see is some ambition, a lot of energy and a willingness to take on board our advice and guidance.

We especially seek companies whose craft skills outweigh their business skills. Entrepreneurs usually start businesses either through passion or through harnessing a craft skill that they have. Often it is their lack of business skills such as financial planning, marketing, strategy and operations that is holding them back. Or maybe, they are so busy that they cannot see the wood for the trees. That is where we come in.

We come to decisions quickly. We need only a couple of meetings to assess a company, its people and the market in which it operates before we make a decision on whether to invest. There will be a short period of due diligence but generally investment can be in place within 6 weeks of having met us for the first time.

We take "active investment" seriously. We don't just put our money in and turn up once a month or once a quarter to a management meeting. We roll our sleeves up and get involved.
